Forest Fire Evacuations During Summer of 2006


Mr. Hart asked the Government the following Question No. 79, which was answered by the Hon. Mr. McCall:

To the Minister of Corrections and Public Safety:
(1) How many people were evacuated from Fond du Lac during the summer of 2006 as a result of forest fires?
(2) How many days were the evacuated people away from their homes?
(3) What was the cost of the evacuation for Fond du Lac?

Answer:
As the responsibility for this subject lies with the Department of Community Resources, they have provided the answer.
(1) 364.
(2) Evacuation began on June 27, 2006. Evacuees’ return was completed on July 2, 2006.
(3) $278,592.89


Mr. Hart asked the Government the following Question No. 80, which was answered by the Hon. Mr. McCall:

To the Minister of Corrections and Public Safety:
(1) How many people were evacuated from Stony Rapids during the summer of 2006 as a result of forest fires?
(2) How many days were the evacuated people away from their homes?
(3) What was the cost of the evacuation for Stony Rapids?

Answer:
As the responsibility for this subject lies with the Department of Community Resources, they have provided the answer.
(1) 205.
(2) On June 25, 2006 civic officials evacuated a number of Stony Rapids residents to Black Lake. Provincial government began evacuating residents from both communities on June 26, 2006. Evacuees’ return was completed on July 2, 2006.
(3) $169,810.76


Mr. Hart asked the Government the following Question No. 81, which was answered by the Hon. Mr. McCall:

To the Minister of Corrections and Public Safety:
(1) How many people were evacuated from Black Lake during the summer of 2006 as a result of forest fires?
(2) How many days were the evacuated people away from their homes?
(3) What was the cost of the evacuation for Black Lake?

Answer:
As the responsibility for this subject lies with the Department of Community Resources, they have provided the answer.
(1) 412.
(2) Evacuations began on June 26, 2006. Evacuees’ return was completed on July 2, 2006.
(3) $317,373.28


Mr. Hart asked the Government the following Question No. 82, which was answered by the Hon. Mr. McCall:

To the Minister of Corrections and Public Safety:
(1) How many people were evacuated from Uranium City during the summer of 2006 as a result of forest fires?
(2) How many days were the evacuated people away from their homes?
(3) What was the cost of the evacuation for Uranium City?

Answer:
As the responsibility for this subject lies with the Department of Community Resources, they have provided the answer.
(1) 17.
(2) Most residents of Uranium City self evacuated on June 29, 2006. Evacuees’ return was completed on July 1, 2006.
(3) $14,270.72
