Transfer of Water Between Saskatchewan and Alberta


Mr. Hart asked the Government the following Question No. 329, which was answered by the Hon. Mr. Nilson:

To the Minister of Environment:
What regulations are in place, if any, dealing with the transfer of fresh water, by means other than natural waterways, from Alberta to Saskatchewan?

Answer:
The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority Act, 2005, section 55(b), prohibits any license or approval to transfer water out of a watershed.


Mr. Hart asked the Government the following Question No. 330, which was answered by the Hon. Mr. Nilson:

To the Minister of Environment:
What regulations are in place, if any, dealing with the transfer of fresh water, by means other than natural waterways, from Saskatchewan to Alberta?

Answer:
Responsibility for this matter falls under the Province of Alberta’s Water Act.
